Powerhouse Energy is an interesting company worth some perusal
Powerhouse Energy is an AIM-quoted minnow developing a waste to energy system, turning industrial waste into syngas. It is aiming its technology at local councils favouring landfill and incineration, providing the opportunity to turn their rubbish into fuel.
This June the company recently received £500,000 of funding to meet the costs of the environmental permits and funding for the planning permission related to the development of its demonstration unit and five waste to energy systems.
Its system is currently designed for syngas with the possibility for the waste to be converted into hydrogen.
Powerhouse Energy has a two year lease on a site at the Thornton Science Park at the University of Chester where it is developing its unit, the G3 UhT.
Powerhouse Energy is still in the development phase and hence has not booked any revenues. Nonetheless its technology offers an interesting solution to councils looking to reduce their environmental impact while at the same time providing energy from waste sources.
